Studio MAPPA handled the animation from Season 4 onward, taking over WIT Studio that was in charge of the first three seasons. The anime adapted the manga by Hajime Isayama, which ran in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine from September 2009 until April 2021. Kodansha USA licensed the manga for an English release.
