Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage at Anime Expo 2024

Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage (also known as Project Sekai ft. Hatsune Miku in Japan) was back at this year’s Anime Expo! This time the rhythm game had a booth with activities that Anime Expo attendees enjoyed.

One of the sections of the booth allowed fans to take a photo-op with one of the game’s mascots: Robo-Nene. Robo-Nene is a robot built by Wonderland x Showtime’s Rui and based on Nene, another member of Wonderland x Showtime. Since Robo-Nene was a Wonderland x Showtime mascot, the background was set in Wonderland SEKAI, a world in the game that was based on the the group’s world.

It made a perfect background for a picture with Robo-Nene. The booth even provided some props based on Wonderland x Showtime’s stickers used in the game. Robo-Nene only appeared during certain times of the day, but if she wasn’t there, fans could still get their picture in Wonderland SEKAI with cardboard cutouts of Chibi Miku and Rabbit Kigurumi.

Anime Expo attendees gathered at the main stage, the centerpiece of the booth, to show off their rhythm skills. Players had the option to choose between Master and Expert modes for any available songs, with their performances displayed on a large screen for everyone to watch. Newcomers or those preferring an easier experience could play easier versions of the game in a separate area right next to the main stage. Despite a limited song selection, this was ideal for anyone interested in trying out the global version of the game or playing at a more comfortable level. There was also a message board that allowed fans to share their thoughts and express their love for the game and its characters.

Fans were also welcome to join in on a scavenger hunt, which allowed people to explore the different sections of the booth and try out the different activities which were on offer. Once completed, they were able to get a postcard trading card as a reward.

While the Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage global version was released three years ago, this was the first time the game had a dedicated booth at Anime Expo. After seeing the booth, we could see the immense popularity the game has garnered since its release. With their 3rd anniversary coming up on September 30, we were told by one of the representatives that some surprise may happen for the 3rd anniversary. Fans can look forward to what the game has in store for them.
