Oshi no Ko: Futari No Etude Novel to Focus on Akane and Kana; Debuts This December

Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari's Oshi no Ko may be nearing its end, but two of the manga’s heroines will see a continuation of their story. Through their official X, the Jump J Book’s editorial department announced an upcoming light novel that will center on Akane Kurosawa and Kana Arima. The new publication, OSHI NO KO ~Futari no Etude~ is set to debut on December 18.

Hajime Tanaka, who previously co-authored the Ai Hoshino-focused novel Oshi no Ko: Ichibanboshi no Spicawill write the upcoming OSHI NO KO ~Futari no Etude~ under Aka Akasaka’s supervision. Further details regarding the release will be revealed at a later date. A fun detail is that the release of the upcoming novel coincides with the release of the final volume of the Oshi no Ko manga.

One of the most loved revenge stories of the past decade, Oshi no Ko boasts three seasons of a TV anime, spin-off light novels, and a live-action. The manga will conclude with the 16th volume. Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump has serialized the work since April 23, 2020. Doga Kobo animates the work’s anime adaptation.

What’s Oshi no Ko About?

Oshi no Ko follows Gorou Amamiya, a gynecologist/obstetrician obsessed with the idol Ai Hoshino. To his disbelief, he ends up as her attending doctor when the young starlet travels to his remote hospital to hide her pregnancy. Dr. Amamiya promises to stand by Ai throughout the ordeal, and he strikes up a friendship with her. However, that friendship leads to his demise when one of her crazed fans kills him. Despite his death, he remains connected to Ai, as he reincarnates as her son, Aquamarine.

For a few years, it’s a tranquil life for the Hoshino family, but one day that tranquility is ripped from them as Ai is murdered. Vowing to avenge the object of his affection, Aqua sets out to find his father under the assumption that he had something to do with Ai’s death. HIDIVE currently streams Oshi no Ko.
