Review: iBUYPOWER and HYTE Honkai Star Rail Limited Edition Silver Wolf Y70 Case
At the most recent Anime Expo, I was able to tour the iBUYPOWER booth and see the Limited Edition Silver Wolf Y70 Case for myself, and now thanks to our friends at iBUYPOWER I was able to get my hands on this bundle for a closer look. All I can say is that as a fan and regular day-to-day player of the Honkai Star Rail game, this case truly is a culmination of beauty and passion.
Packaging
Starting from the box, which by itself is a collector’s item. We have the retro aesthetic of an older game device with a cute 8-bit version of Silver Wolf standing next to a PC case with an inscription above that says “Achievement Unlocked: You are now a certified enjoyer of a Limited Editon Silver Wolf Y70 Case!”. The pixel art is just adorable and the box is secure enough.
As I opened the box I was greeted by a small Silver Wolf-themed set of fan grills that can be attached to the case and an acrylic keychain modeled after the popular in-game curio, Punklorde Mentality. Both are part of the bundle.
Case Design
From there we now get to the case itself. Just like I had seen in July at the Anime Expo it’s still beautiful. The case is not fully rectangular and is pretty big (just like the standard Y70). But this one is not as a standard case because it features some incredible artwork from the game.
This limited edition doesn’t come with a display some Y70s have, but I do have to say Silver Wolf never looked better. From her two official poses to her cute little chibi pose, it reminded me why she is always an essential character in my various team comps in the game. And last but not least we have the Allow Changes? power button as the cherry on top.
Now on this side, we see both a simple but unique striped pattern with its purple and blue accents topped off with a small chibi Silver Wolf gaming whilst chewing gum as any true gamer would. All in all, it’s a very beautiful case that pairs so well with Silver Wolf’s personality.
Inside of the iBUYPOWER and HYTE Honkai Star Rail Case
Of course, it’s not all about the looks. I haven’t set up this case due to the fact that I wanted to take an in-depth look while it was still “fresh” without embarrassing myself with my cable-management skills, but I took a peek into actual functionality and I will be building an actual PC later using it.
The inside is black and purple, once again following Silver Wolf’s color theme. The back panel even features a limited-edition tag of the “WANTED” Bounty from the game along with a HYTE logo.
As with the standard Y70, the top and front panels come off without the need for screws, allowing for easy installation of components. There is plenty of fan space, with floor cooling, which I’m sure is appreciated if you are going to be using this case for your gaming PC. Both air and water cooling options are possible. It also comes included with a color-matched PCIE 4.0 riser cable.
HYTE boasts that this case can house even the largest graphic cards, which given the size of this thing is very true. The inside is sturdy so you won’t have an issue with bending and there is plenty of space to keep it from overheating. Drive management should also pose no issue with ejectable floating storage sleds. The top also easily comes off.
Cable management should not be a problem, since you can easily tuck them behind the side panel, especially since the case comes with velcro straps, routing channels, and tie-down points. The technical specifications on HYTE’s website give the exact dimensions:
Limited Edition Silver Wolf Y70 Case – Impressions
First off I’d like to thank the staff at iBUYPOWER for giving me this opportunity to review such a fantastic case. As for my impressions, it’s mainly the same as what I felt when I saw it in Los Angeles this past July but to reiterate: it really is a must-buy for any Honkai Star Rail fan who has some money to spare (the case bundle is $299.99 – so not exactly cheap). However, for the money you are getting something that was made with passion and was well thought-out, it’s definitely not there as a money grab. They went all out and made sure you knew that with all its carefully crafted workmanship. To put it simply as an infamous hero once said “It was perfect. Perfect. Everything, down to last minute details…”
HYTE just ended the pre-order period but do keep an eye out for when they become available because if you are an HSR fan, this is an item that is both well-made and beautiful and is something that could last you a long time. In addition to the case bundle, you can also get the keycap set and desk pad bundle or just the desk pad. The 3-year warranty is extra nice and I can’t wait to actually try it with a proper build.
